VIS is an Icelandic ins­urance comp­any which enjoys a strong positi­on in the mar­ket with a mar­ket share of more than 33%. The comp­any of­fers extensi­ve ins­urance services with an emp­hasis on us­ef­ul advice, efficiency, flex­i­bility, and excell­ent service. The principal focus of VIS is ca­sualty ins­urance. The comp­any of­fers property ins­urance, mar­ine and tran­sport ins­urance, compulsory and volunt­ary motor ins­urance, lia­bility ins­urance, accident ins­urance and for­eign reins­urance. The comp­any also owns and opera­tes the life ins­urance comp­any Líf­ís, which of­fers per­sonal ins­urance including life and sickness co­vera­ge. VIS was listed on the Icelandic stock mar­ket in 2013. The comp­any was form­ally esta­blis­hed on Febru­ary 5, 1989 with the mer­ger of Sam­vinnu­trygg­ing­ar and Bruna­bóta­fé­lag Íslands, which traces its history back to 1917.
