It invests in a diversified portfolio of quoted and unquoted securities of companies (including Tata companies) and is primarily involved in long-term investments such as equity shares and equity-related securities. It was promoted by Tata Sons Ltd. in 1937 and was earlier named The Investment Corporation of India Limited.
